When I was 50 pounds heavier, I believed that I didn’t eat that much. I didn’t think I ate more than the slim people I knew and I thought it was unfair that they were slim and I wasn’t.
Do you ever think that way?
One of the things I will do in this podcast is give you the facts. No BS. Just straight talk. Even when it is stuff you might not like to hear or believe. So you may think the next thing I have to tell you is bad news. It really isn’t.
The simple answer to the topic I’m discussing today is that people are overweight because they overeat. In other words, if you are overweight, it is because you are eating more food than your body needs for fuel. But it isn’t that simple.
Learn about the two ways that people overeat.
Learn why people overeat.
And learn what you can do instead.

I remember when I weighed about 135 telling my doctor, “But I don’t eat that much different than I used to!” He explained that a little difference can make a big impact when you increase your calorie intake. Decades later, topped out at about 300 lbs, I no longer believe I don’t eat too much. but still have difficulty riding the emotional roller coaster of life while trying to limit the best source of comfort that I’ve found.
So many of us use food because it’s the tool we know, is readily available for most people and there’s no stigma, like pouring yourself a glass of wine at 10:00 a.m.! You do have other sources of comfort in your life, though, and can cultivate others. Think about it. In later podcast episodes, starting with 8, I walk you through the process. You also must believe that you can change, too!
