I love to cook, and I cook and bake a lot. It is so much easier to eat delicious, healthy food when you prepare it at home. One of my favorite chefs, James Beard winner Sam Hayward of Fore Street in Portland, Maine, told a local radio station that restaurant food is not intended to be eaten every day. It is made for taste intensity, and often contains more calories and fat than food we prepare at home. I don't have to tell you that it is hard to eat a lot of meals out and not gain weight.

If you want to eat delicious food and be a healthy weight, the best way is to get cooking! Use fresh local produce when possible.
